ADAO was honored to have so many amazing individuals come together at the 8th Asbestos Awareness Conference in support of our community, and to discuss the impact of asbestos on public health, the environment, and the economy. We are so excited to be able to share the inspiring and exceptional presenters, honorees, and discussion panels with our incredibly supportive community.

It is with pleasure we share the video of Tribute Honoree, Debbie Brewer, accepting her “Alan Reinstein Award” at the conference. Debbie has long been committed to education, advocacy, and support to countless patients and families, and is truly an exceptional woman.

Debbie Brewer was born in Plymouth, England in 1959. She had her first job as a shop assistant in 1976. Since then she went on to get married, twice, and have three children, who she recognizes as her inspiration. In 2006, she lost her beloved dad and was also diagnosed with mesothelioma. This was a shock to her whole family. At the time she was given 6-9 months to live, but was determined to change that. Her daughter, Siobhan, developed a website which allowed Debbie to contact others who were fighting mesothelioma as well. Through this she met many meso-warriors, and she found a research treatment that would stabilize her illness. Debbie continues to support others and works with groups like ADAO to create awareness.
