ADAO is hard at work, organizing our 9th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference, which will take place on March 22 – 24 in Washington DC! Our past conferences have been overwhelmingly successful, and we want to continue sharing the powerful presentations from those conferences. Last year, ADAO was honored to have so many amazing individuals come together at the 8th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference to discuss the impact of asbestos on public health, the environment, and the economy. We are excited to share Matt Peacock’s keynote address, India’s Toxic Trade.

Matt Peacock has been a journalist for more than 30 years, mostly for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He began his career as a current affairs television researcher before becoming a reporter with the ABC Radio Science Unit, where he produced a pioneering series of programs about the dangers of asbestos, later published as a book, Asbestos: Work as a Health Hazard. He has worked for a wide range of ABC radio and TV programs, including as chief political correspondent in Canberra, and has been posted in Washington, New York, and London. He also worked in Australia’s Northern Territory, specializing in indigenous affairs and co-founding an Aboriginal video production house. Matt is Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Sydney’s University of Technology (UTS), and has authored numerous newspaper and magazine articles, as well as the book Killer Company, a history of Australia’s largest asbestos manufacturer. The book was dramatized in the TV series Devil’s Dust.

In unity,

Linda
