Ban Asbestos Struggle copyThe Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is excited to be on our way to Washington D.C. for our fourth Senate Staff Briefing, entitled “Asbestos: The Impact on Public Health, the Environment, and the Economy.”

We are honored to serve as a resource to the U.S. Congress.  Thanks to the many volunteers, sponsors, and members of our ADAO community who support ADAO and enabled us to become the largest non-profit organization dedicated to preventing asbestos exposure to eliminate disease.

Special thanks to our Senate staff briefing speakers:

  • Epidemiology: Understanding How Asbestos Causes Diseases – Richard A. Lemen, Ph.D., MSPH, Assistant Surgeon General, USPHS (ret.)
  • Treating Mesothelioma and Other Asbestos-Caused Diseases – Raja Flores, MD, Chief of Thoracic Surgery, Mount Sinai Medical Center
  • EPA (TSCA) and OSHA Regulatory Framework and Concerns – Tom Laubenthal, Technical Chief, The Environmental Institute
  • A Patient’s Mesothelioma Journey – Ellen Patton, Mesothelioma Patient
  • Asbestos Exposure throughout the U.S.: Imports, Natural Disasters, and the Chemical Safety Improvement Act (S. 1009) – Linda Reinstein, President, Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization

Although this briefing is open only to members of Congress and their staff, your voice can still be heard.

You can:

  1. Continue to call and invite your U.S. Senators to send staffers to the briefing! Thanks to all of you, we have 18 states confirmed – let’s keep up the great work!
  2. Share Your Story with ADAO
  3. Click here to sign and share ADAO’s petition urging Congress to protect public healthy by banning asbestos.

As a stakeholder in the discussion, ADAO remains committed to supporting legislation that prevents asbestos exposure, and we look forward to this opportunity to inform our Congressional leaders.

Every voice counts, and every action makes a difference.

In unity,

Linda
