On April 26, 2014, community members will gather in Varnell, Georgia for Mesothelioma Warrior Michael’s Miracle 5K, as he continues to courageously fight for his life in hospice. The 5K Run/Walk will take place at Varnell Parks and Recreation Gym from 10:30am – 4:00pm. The event will proceed rain or shine. For a $20 pre-registration donation, participants will also be entered in a raffle, indulge in Bar-B-Q sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Chips, Homemade Jellies & Apple Butter, and much more. All proceeds will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. You may register here.

“Asbestos is deadly. It does not think, it just kills.” –Michael

On behalf of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), it is an honor to be invited to serve as the guest speaker for the event and support Michael’s journey. Michael is the recipient of ADAO’s 2014 Special Recognition of Valor Award. He will also speak at ADAO’s 10th Annual Asbestos Awareness Conference on April 5, 2014 on the topic “Asbestos Has Changed My Life.”

At the age of only 29, Michael has made an extraordinary commitment to finding a cure for asbestos diseases and to banning asbestos. He is an inspiration to mesothelioma warriors and their families in the US and around the world. When Michael heard the mesothelioma diagnosis two years ago, he began sharing his story and never looked back. He set his course on change and I have seen his remarkable accomplishments.

Together, change is possible.
