National Cancer Research Month is a time when knowledge and action unite at the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO). There is still no cure for mesothelioma and lung cancer caused by asbestos-disease. Here are three things you can do to take action:

1. Join us in calling upon the U.S. Congress to increase funding to the National Institutes of Health as we Act Now to Make Medical Research a National Priority.

2. Show your support for Toxic Chemical Reform Legislation by signing this Environmental Working Group petition. Since prevention is currently the only cure for asbestos disease, protecting public health is just as important in saving lives as research.

3. Spread awareness by viewing and sharing our infographic: Asbestos: Legal and Lethal in the U.S.A.

On May 20th, we will celebrate International Clinical Trials Day in honor of Dr. James Lind‘s whose clinical trial to determine an effective treatment for scurvy was done in 1747.

For more information, we invite you to view: Cancer Research Saves Lives, a video by the American Association for Cancer Research.

Together, change is possible.
