4th Intl Mesothelioma SymposiumOn Saturday, June 7 in Santa Monica, California, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) welcomed the opportunity to present on “Staying Focused and Energized in the Fight Against Asbestos and Mesothelioma” at the 4th International Symposium on Lung-Sparing Therapies for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma.

This is ADAO’s third year presenting at the symposium, the only U.S. conference dedicated to lung-sparing therapies for mesothelioma, attended by renowned experts from North America and Europe. I was honored to be on the agenda alongside Former Assistant U.S. Surgeon General Richard Lemen, PhD, MSPH, Co-Chair of ADAO’s Science Advisory Board.  The symposium was once again chaired by Dr. Robert Cameron, the Director of the Comprehensive Mesothelioma Program at UCLA, with prestigious faculty members, including Joachim G. Aerts, MD, PhD of Erasmus MC Cancer Institute in the Netherlands and Jan P. van Meerbeeck, MD, PhD of the University of Antwerp in Belgium. ADAO was the only asbestos victims organization invited to present among these esteemed doctors.

ADAO applauds Dr. Cameron and his colleagues at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine for their efforts to educate the medical community on the advancements in mesothelioma treatment. It was terrific to see oncologists, pulmonary physicians, mesothelioma experts, and patients and families gather to share the latest information on choosing mesothelioma treatment options.
