We have been touched by asbestos in individual ways, yet we are joined together by a bond of community. As a testament to the strength of our global family, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is highlighting the courageous stories of our members with the “Share Your Story” feature on our website.

This week, we would like to honor the story of Glen, as shared by his wife, Rebecca, who is a part of our ADAO family.

We encourage you to submit your personal stories by clicking here and following the simple instructions on the page. In sharing, comes healing. Remember, you are not alone.

“Baby I’m Going To Die” – Glen’s Story

Name: Glen

Location: Arkansas

Date of Diagnosis: 19-AUG-2010

Diagnosis: Mesothelioma

1955 – 2011

How has asbestos changed your life?

Our lives changed on our 22nd anniversary, when our Pcp came to Glens hospital room and told him he had Mesothelioma from exposure to Asbestos and there was no cure and he was going to die. Dr.s gave him 6 months. After he said what he needed to say to Glen, Glen turned to me and with big tears in his eyes he said “BABY I’M GOING TO DIE”. Glen left me with 7 grown kids and 23 grandchildren. They miss their Dad and Papa every day and no amount of money can replace the void in their hearts or mine!! Two weeks after we layed Glen to rest, his ex-wife was diagnosed with the same thing from doing his laundry. There is no sense to any of this. I am disabled and Glen was my caregiver and soul mate, why would anyone knowingly put another human at risk for the greed of money. For God’s sake Congress please BAN ASBESTOS from our country!! My county alone has lost over 200 people from this MANMADE Killer.
