We have been touched by asbestos in individual ways, yet we are joined together by a bond of community. As a testament to the strength of our global family, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is highlighting the courageous stories of our members with the “Share Your Story” feature on our website.

This week, we would like to honor the story of Jose, as shared by his daughter, Ana, who is a part of our ADAO family.

We encourage you to submit your personal stories by clicking here and following the simple instructions on the page. In sharing, comes healing. Remember, you are not alone.

“Our Father Was Our World” – Jose’s Story

Name: Jose

Date of Diagnosis: 1988

Diagnosis: Mesothelioma

1925 – 1988

How has asbestos changed your life?

Our father, was our world. Although he had only a fifth grade education he was self taught and well read man. He loved music, art, and his family. We were cheated out of having his grand children enjoy his love and his amazing intellect. He never reached retirement and 12 years after our lawsuit we received $ 5 k. It was an insult to the great man my father was and to the years of hard work he gave the company that took his life and his suffering in exchange for profit.
