ADAO-pie-challenge 3Thanks to Jessica Mattmuller and Donna Johnson, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is participating in the “Make a Pie, Take a Pie Challenge” this month to raise awareness and fight the misconception that asbestos has been banned. Both Jessica’s husband and Donna’s father have suffered terribly due to asbestos exposure. You can read their stories and many other victims’ “Share your Stories” here. We are grateful to Jessica and Donna for their kind support to the ADAO community. Jessica also designed the the great infographic for the Challenge!

Participating is easy, simple, fun and, most importantly, raises life-saving asbestos awareness. Just follow these simple steps.

1. Make a video challenging friends or loved ones, share one of the five asbestos facts below, and “Take a Pie” in the face! (I, Linda Reinstein, solemnly promise that I will be “Taking a Pie” in the face myself and sharing the video.)

OR

Make a video challenging friends or loved ones, and, instead of “Taking a Pie,” donate $50 to ADAO’s asbestos awareness support efforts!

2. Share on your favorite social media platform(s).

3. If challenged, complete the “Make a Pie, Take a Pie” Challenge within 24 hours!

To learn more  see, Herman, Jessica and Mike’s videos below.

Here are 5 of the most shocking and disturbing little-known asbestos facts:

  1. Asbestos is a known human carcinogen and there is no safe level of asbestos exposure.
  2. Asbestos-caused diseases have a 10 – 50 year latency period from initial exposure to development of disease.
  3. The World Health Organization estimates “more than 107,000 people die each year from asbestos-related lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis resulting from occupational exposures.”
  4. Chrysotile asbestos accounts for nearly 95% of asbestos mined and exported today. The top four asbestos-producing countries were Russia, China, Brazil, and Kazakhstan in 2012.
  5. There are numerous proven substitutes for asbestos products.

Asbestos awareness leads to prevention, early diagnosis, treatments and a cure.  Jessica and Donna would like you to join them in the “Make a Pie, Take a Pie Challenge” and make a donation to ADAO today online at – http://bit.ly/13Awxy4 – or mail in checks to – ADAO, 1525 Aviation Boulevard, Suite 318, Redondo Beach, California 90278.

On behalf of all of us at ADAO, thank you to the Mattmuller and Johnson families for their support!  Visit the ADAO YouTube Challenge channel for additional videos.

In unity,

Linda
