Every two years, the iMig conference brings together experts dedicated to treating and curing mesothelioma, featuring groundbreaking workshops, presentations and discussions, and strengthening collaborative efforts.

The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) was delighted to join delegates from around the world at the 12th International Mesothelioma Interest Group (iMiG) Conference, October 21-24 in Cape Town, South Africa. For eight years, I have been attending and presenting at iMig conferences in Chicago, Amsterdam, Kyoto, Boston and now South Africa.  iMig’s theme was “the ongoing quest for cure.” As reported by iMig, they  “brought together nearly 300 scientists, clinicians, and patient advocates from around the world to Cape Town for 4 exciting days that included nearly 350 platform and poster presentations. The meeting provided a forum for sharing information about new technologies, the latest basic and clinical research findings, and how we can join together to help patients with this disease and educate all about the dangers of asbestos exposure.”

ADAO had two presentations – oral presentation,  “The Importance of Supportive Resources for Mesothelioma Patients and Caregivers” and a Social Advocacy poster entitled “Where Knowledge and Community Unite.”  ADAO was also a conference exhibitor.

iMig continues to carry the torch of hope for new treatments and ultimately, a cure for mesothelioma.  .You can learn more about the iMig conference via ADAO’s digital story, with blogs, videos, and photos.

Together, change is possible.
