GBAN 4th anniversary

This month, the Global Ban Asbestos Network (GBAN), founded by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) and the Brazilian Association of the Asbestos-Exposed (ABREA), celebrates its 4th anniversary!

GBAN, a non-profit and independent initiative, was established to promote and facilitate international collaboration, communication, and action to achieve a global asbestos ban. There are nearly 20 countries maximizing the one-stop portal that brings together interactive social media outlets advocating for a global asbestos ban. GBAN leads the way in international digital asbestos advocacy as it is the only collaborative web-portal of its kind. This public digital sharing has already given the international ban asbestos fight greater visibility and served as a resource to the media.

GBAN seeks to harness the power of the digital revolution. Since ADAO was founded in 2004, we have witnessed the power of social media platforms that synergistically integrate global networks. Social media is undeniably revolutionary, dynamic and essential for grassroots organizations. Technological advances now allow for our website portal to translate postings into nearly 60 different languages, enable people to connect and share reports, news, and personal stories – all in real time. GBAN promotes and facilitates collaboration as we work within our own countries and with diverse individuals to increase education and advocacy, and work to ultimately end the deadly legacy of asbestos.

GBAN sincerely thanks Yvonne Waterman, Dr. Ken Takahashi, Lou Williams, the Charter Members, and all contributing persons for sharing their news, press releases, blogs, and more to raise awareness. Please help us increase asbestos awareness and continue to share with us!

As time has proven, together change is possible.
