ADAO Utah State Representative Annamarie Kearns, will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of her Pleurectomy Decortication (PD) surgery with her family hosting a party for her on Saturday May 14, 2016.

Annamarie successfully had her PD surgery on May 18, 2015. The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) joins her family in celebrating her one-year anniversary with all of her supporters in Rockin for Meso!

What was thought to be asthma, Annamarie’s symptoms escalated while vacationing in Hawaii when all of a sudden she wasn’t able to breath. “My life would forever change after I returned home…hearing the word, ‘mesothelioma’ changed me and my family forever” noted Annamarie. “I have been so blessed by all the support I have received from friends and family and I have met so many people that have come in contact with mesothelioma. We are all warriors and I am proud to be part of a community that that is so passionate for a cure.”

Rather than sit on the sidelines, Annamarie decided to fight for her cause. She has since traveled to Washington DC to meet with both of her U.S. Senators’ staffers individually about banning asbestos in addition to speaking to nearly sixty Senate staffers representing 27 states at ADAO’s 9th Senate Staff Briefing: ““Asbestos: Impact on Consumer Safety, Public Health, and Asbestos Victims’ Civil Rights” held in February.

On top of having an awesome party, Annamarie wants to give back to the asbestos awareness and prevention community. In order to raise funds and awareness, there will be a silent auction, raffle and a donation jar at the event along with extra T-shirts for sale. ALL proceeds will go to ADAO for research on asbestos-related diseases and to asbestos victim services.

If you would like to donate any items, certificates, baskets to the cause, please contact Anna’s daughter, Katie at 801-244-5588.  If you would like to make a direct donation using Paypal, please click here.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you all in Utah!
