PrintADAO sends a message of support to our UK colleagues for the upcoming Health and Safety Week from June 20 – 24, 2016. Although the U.K. has a strong occupational health and safety record compared to the U.S., the country still reports more than 1.2 million people suffering from work-related illnesses, and efforts to protect workers’ health and safety still need improvement. As such, Health and Safety Week aims to “inspire excellence in health & safety” by sharing news, stories, case studies, and guest blogs by experts in their fields featuring important health and safety facts for the public.

Although the U.K. totally banned asbestos in 1999, as a result of structural contamination, risk continues. The IOSH reported that 2,535 individuals in the U.K. died of mesothelioma in 2012 alone. Health and Safety Week is especially important because it highlights the continued threat asbestos poses to the public and how to prevent exposure.

We are pleased to support this week of events promoting the benefits of good health and safety, as we know, education saves lives. Join the conversation on Twitter by using #HSWeek16 or by following

In unity,

Linda
