Event Features Performances by Zevon’s son, bandmates, and special guests

ADAO Press Release

LOS ANGELES – The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is proud to announce a benefit party celebrating the music and life of Grammy-winning musician and mesothelioma victim, Warren Zevon, at Mr. Musichead Gallery in Hollywood on July 7, 2016 from 7-10 p.m. Warren’s son Jordan Zevon—an award-winning musician himself—is co-hosting the event with ADAO and George Gruel, Warren’s former road manager and author of the newly-released book, Lawyers Guns & Photos: Photographs and Tales of My Adventures with Warren Zevon.

“This once-in-a-lifetime event will bring together friends, musicians, collaborators, colleagues and fans to not only celebrate my father’s legacy, but also contribute to fight to end the asbestos crisis in America,” said Jordan Zevon. “Asbestos diseases cannot currently be cured, but they can be prevented through education and awareness. I can think of no better way to pay tribute to my father.”

The house band will feature Randy Brown, Larry Larson, and John Wood from Warren’s1982 touring band along with David Landau and Zeke Zirngiebel, who played on the Stand in the Fire album. Throughout the evening, they will be joined by guest performers including Jorge Calderon, Bob Glaub, Brian MacDonald, and Lee Sklar. The event will showcase an exhibit of photos of Warren’s rock star heyday featured in Lawyers Guns & Photos. George Gruel will lead a book discussion and sign copies of his book. A live auction of Warren Zevon memorabilia will also offer fans a rare opportunity to own a part of rock-n-roll history.

Warren Zevon received five posthumous Grammy nominations and won two Grammy awards, including Best Contemporary Folk Album for The Wind. He passed away in 2003 from mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. His death moved his son Jordan Zevon to become the national spokesperson for ADAO, lending his voice to spreading awareness about the dangers of asbestos.

“With as many as 15,000 Americans dying from asbestos diseases each year, I am not alone and my story is truly no different than any other family affected by the tragedy of asbestos,” Jordan Zevon said. “ADAO gives victims like me and countless others a united voice and unmatched strength to work toward a future without asbestos.”

Proceeds from ticket sales and the live auction will be donated to ADAO.
