With respect and sadness, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) would like to share our 2017 Mesothelioma Warrior Memorial Video. This year, we have nearly 250 dedications, reflecting the power of unity, community, and hope. The stories told from mesothelioma patients, their families, and their loved ones humbled us, broke our hearts, gave us hope, and motivated us with an unstoppable fervor to keep fighting.

As we join together for Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26th to raise awareness and take action, we remember and honor those who have lost their lives to mesothelioma. Our video represents the vast range of ages and backgrounds of those who are affected by mesothelioma each year all over the world, as well as the worldwide reach of asbestos exposure. We honor victims from eight countries including Australia, Canada, Colombia, Italy, Korea, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and elsewhere.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s Mesothelioma Warrior Memorial Video, and we want to especially thank ADAO National Spokesperson, Jordan Zevon, for allowing us to feature Warren Zevon’s Grammy-winning song “Keep Me in Your Heart”Warren passed away from mesothelioma in 2003 and wrote this beautiful award-winning song about his experience with asbestos-caused cancer.

Joined by a common bond and shared goal, the Mesothelioma Warrior community epitomizes the old Chinese proverb, “Out of the hottest fire comes the strongest steel.” Together, we are galvanized to end the asbestos man-made disaster. When the sun sets on September 26th, our work for Mesothelioma Warriors of today and the future will continue. Our fight cannot stop until we #ENDMeso.

Mesothelioma Awareness is more than a day—it’s our mantra.

In unity always,

Linda Reinstein
