As we approach the close of 2017 — a rollercoaster of a year if there’s ever been one — I can’t help but look back at how far we’ve come. If nothing else this past year, we proved how POWERFUL we as a community have made the voice of asbestos victims. Time and time again, no matter the adversary before us, we’ve stood up and shared our stories — and we’re making a difference!

To better represent the important work Team ADAO has accomplished over the years, I’d like to share our new Impact Graphic, which showcases our progress and strengths in words, numbers, and graphics. I’m sharing this graphic because I am proud of what we’ve done — and you should be, too. We are who we are because of  YOU – our community – a powerful combination of asbestos victims, scientists and international public health leaders, donors, and sponsors, who have and continue to generously give time and dollars to fund ADAO’s education, advocacy, and community support efforts.

One important accomplishment not included on this graphic is The Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act of 2017 (ARBAN), which was introduced by Sen. Jeff Merkley and seven strong co-sponsors in early November. If we focus our collective energy on getting this lifesaving bill passed, I believe our 2018 graphic will have an important new highlight: an exemption-free, federal ban on asbestos.

As you probably know, ADAO is an independent nonprofit, and we rely entirely on the generous donations from our supporters. This graphic shows just how far your dollars have gone and gives you a sense of where we’re headed. We’ve included a quick and secure donation form at the bottom of this blog if you’d like to take this opportunity to support our efforts and contribute to the ban asbestos movement.

Together, we are making change happen and we are making it now. We need each of you to stand with us through the global asbestos struggle, share your story, and donate your time and dollars as you can to help end the deadly legacy of asbestos.

Special thanks to Jess Mattmuller who creatively put our accomplishments into this excellent graphic.

In unity,

Linda Reinstein
