Art is a powerful tool for advocacy. Just ask Conor B. Lewis and Zack Johnson, the bright minds behind the latest asbestos documentary making it’s rounds throughout the United States, “Dirty Laundry”. The film highlights the cousins’ 4,200 mile bike ride across the nation in honor of their strong grandmother, who lost her life to mesothelioma. During their trip, the duo engaged with everyday Americans whose lives and communities have been significantly impacted by the deadly impact of toxic asbestos.

This month, Conor and Zack are partaking in their third film festival, the Newport Beach Film Festival. The Festival, Orange County’s largest entertainment event, will take place on April 26 – May 3rd. The event will bring 350 films and nightly gala events to over 50,000 film fans from across the globe. Dirty Laundry, an hour and fifteen minute film, will be shown on Wednesday, May 2nd from 7:30pm – 8:45pm.

Just last month, Ellen Costa, a dedicated ADAO Board member, and I had the opportunity to witness the powerful film’s premiere at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival in California.

The film reminds audiences how precious life is and how critical it is to protect public health and the environment from carcinogenic asbestos, through policies and prevention. Let’s keep this powerful momentum around asbestos going! To purchase tickets, check out the trailer, and learn more information, click here.

Well done, Conor and Zack – we are all honored and proud of your tireless work to end asbestos-caused disease in honor of your beloved grandmother. Our community appreciates it deeply.

In unity,
