Kaboom!

Days after ADAO published the press release, “ADAO Announces New Findings that Show Asbestos-Related Deaths Estimated at More than Double Previously Reported in the United States”, the International Alliance of Trade Union Organizations “Chrysotile” published a press release referencing a paper written by Christie A. Barlow of Cardno ChemRisk stating “White Chrysotile Asbestos is Safe.”

Contrary to the peer-reviewed science, they stated, “Often exposure, even in significant doses, of chrysotile asbestos does not lead to an increase in cancer incidence in the control group (Pierce et al., 2016), while exposure to another type of asbestos (e.g. amphibole) in smaller doses may significantly affect the incidence of cancer in the exposed group.”

In 2016, the brazen chlor-alkali industry imported 5% of chrysotile asbestos from Russia. Let the truth be told. In 2017, Brazil Supreme Federal Court ruled to ban the mining, use, and commercialization of asbestos; we know there is no safe or controlled use of asbestos.

Here’s the best news — chrysotile asbestos production has significantly decreased.  The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported, “Based on revised production data, estimated worldwide consumption of asbestos minerals decreased from approximately 2 million tons in 2010 to nearly 1.4 million tons in 2016. Comprehensive data for 2017 were not yet available. Asbestos-cement products are expected to continue to be the leading global market for asbestos.”

But wait — there’s more! At ADAO’s 14th Annual International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference, Dr. Jukka Takala, DSc, MSc, BSc, President of the International Commission of Occupational Health (ICOH), stated “Asbestos is a deadly carcinogen and worldwide we’re seeing its impact increase. It’s time for the United States to take action and recognize the need for a ban. There is no safe level of exposure.” Dr. Takala’s science shows that U.S. asbestos-related deaths have been significantly under reported.

The paper written by scientists at Cardno ChemRisk stated, that “Only outdated laws and unreasonable prejudices stand in the way of progress. The International Alliance “Chrysotile” is convinced of the need to overcome them in order to achieve economic growth and promote social prosperity.”

Although it is obvious that there is no safe level of exposure of asbestos, the International Alliance of Trade Union Organizations is trying their best to raise the Titanic and continue their pathetic propaganda in hope to profit from killer asbestos at the expense of nearly 40,000 American lives each year.

Enough.
