Asbestos is a known carcinogen that kills nearly 40,000 Americans each year, yet raw asbestos imports and use continue. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is on track to once again let industry impact public health and our environment by allowing asbestos use and even new uses to harm Americans.

There are four important ways you can raise your voice and be heard:

  1. Submit a comment to the docket in regards to the Problem Formulation Document, which is how the EPA will regulate the toxic substances (including asbestos) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and the Significant New Use Rule (SNUR), which will allow new uses of asbestos. Tell the EPA to ban asbestos now without loopholes or exemptions.

  2. Sign and share ADAO’s petition to the EPA calling them to ban asbestos without any loopholes or exemptions.
  3. Call or write the EPA and leave a message for Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler demanding the EPA ban asbestos now. Phone: 202-564-4700 Address: EPA Document Control Office (7407M), Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT), Environmental Protection Agency, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20460-0001.
  4. Support the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (ARBAN) by calling your local senators and congresspeople to let them know you are in support of the bill, and urge them to support the bill. S.2072 & H.R.5114

Together, change is possible.
