For years, corporations have intensively lobbied Congress for relief from liability for knowingly poisoning workers, their families and communities with asbestos. The Specter-Leahy asbestos trust fund bill pending in the Senate, S. 852, will give a huge financial windfall to asbestos companies and their insurers while leaving those suffering from progressive, often fatal diseases with no place to turn. Now victims of asbestos-related diseases, doctors and consumer advocates have united in opposition to the corporate bailout. This growing list will be available online to all organizations and the media.
