We have been touched by asbestos in individual ways, yet we are joined together by a bond of community. As a testament to the strength of our global family, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is highlighting the courageous stories of our members with the “Share Your Story” feature on our website.

This week, we would like to honor the story of Robbie, as shared by his widow, Jill, who is a part of our ADAO family.

We encourage you to submit your personal stories by clicking here and following the simple instructions on the page. In sharing, comes healing. Remember, you are not alone.

How has asbestos changed your life?

To watch your very strong, healthy and young 40 yr old husband waste away to nothing is heart wrenching. Knowing that it is something that could have been totally prevented makes it even worse. Rob was 46 when he died in my arms at home. He was so thin that all u could feel were his bones when u touched him. Asbestos stole my soulmate and now I am a widow at 46 yrs old. Loneliness is almost crippling. My life will never be the same. Rob fought courageously till the end. I will do the same till asbestos is banned 100% & a cure is found.
