Heather Von St James (SLT Coordinator, Midwestern Region) was diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma at the young age of 36, just 3 1/2 months after the birth of her one and only child. She is now an almost-10 year survivor of the disease and a strong advocate for asbestos victims’ issues. She, along with her husband, blog for the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance and Huffington Post. She spends her spare time volunteering at her daughter’s school, being with friends and family, and living life to the fullest. Her goal is to bring about hope to mesothelioma patients and awareness regarding the disease.
