I am delighted and honored to present for the fifth time at the Global Health & Innovation Conference (#GHIC) at Yale University.

The Global Health & Innovation Conference annually convenes more than 2,200 participants from more than 50 countries to exchange ideas and best practices across disciplines improving public health and international development. The conference participants bring experience from a wide variety of disciplines, and includes students, nurses, doctors, policy makers, nonprofit directors and volunteers, public health professionals, health educators, community health workers, researchers, social scientists, social workers, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, teachers, lawyers, and business executives.

On Saturday, April 13, I will be presenting “Mitigating the Asbestos Disaster: Policy, Prevention, and Advocacy in the 21st Century,” during the “Environmental Impacts on Human Health.” I will be discussing the impact asbestos had and continues to have on public health, consumer safety, and our environment. Recent reports such as the Global Asbestos Disaster report confirmed millions of Americans remain at risk today, and indicates that asbestos-caused deaths are increasing in the U.S., despite decreased consumption.

I’m proud to present alongside brilliant public health leaders addressing a variety of crucial issues:

L 351: Environmental Impacts on Human Health

  • “Mitigating the Asbestos Disaster: Policy, Prevention, and Advocacy in the 21st Century,” Linda Reinstein, President and CEO, Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization
  • “Envisioning Old Communities for Children’s Health and Sustainability: New Orleans and New York City,” Howard Mielke, Research Professor, Tulane University
  • “Professionals’ Perceptions: Why is Lead Poisoning Prevalent in Lancaster County?” Harriet Okatch, Assistant Professor, Franklin and Marshall College
  • “Glyphosate’s Key Role in Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Origin,” Stephanie Seneff, Senior Research Scientist, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

ADAO is also excited to hear Firdaus Kaharas, a world-renowned director and humanitarian and ADAO ally, speak at the conference. I look forward to connecting with conference individuals, organizations, universities, and social entrepreneurs to advance the ADAO mission to prevent exposure to eliminate asbestos-caused diseases.

Together, we make change happen.
