ADAO was honored to have so many amazing individuals come together at the 8th Asbestos Awareness Conference to discuss the impact of asbestos on public health, the environment, and the economy. We are excited to be able to share the inspiring and exceptional presenters, honorees, and discussion panels with our supportive community. Debbie Brewer, a brave woman who was diagnosed with mesothelioma six years ago, joined ADAO at the conference to discuss patient communities. It is a privilege to share the video of Debbie’s presentation: Victims’ Community.

Debbie was born in Plymouth, England in 1959. She had her first job as a shop assistant in 1976. Since then she went on to get married, twice, and have three children, who she recognizes as her inspiration. In 2006, she lost her beloved dad and was also diagnosed with mesothelioma. This was a shock to her whole family. At the time she was given 6-9 months to live, but was determined to change that. Her daughter, Siobhan, developed a website, which allowed Debbie to contact others who were fighting mesothelioma as well. Through the site she met many meso-warriors, and found a research treatment that would stabilize her illness. Debbie continues to support others and works with groups like ADAO to create awareness. ADAO is honored to have worked with Debbie for the past 3 years, and applauds her dedication to our community.
