Mesothelioma Action DayThe Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is honored to join the London Hazards Centre’s 10th Mesothelioma Action Day on July 3, 2015 in London, England. This year, asbestos victims organizations, trade unions, and experts from the medical, scientific, and occupational  fields will come together under the theme “Banned but Not Gone: all asbestos causes cancer” to speak out against asbestos and its horrific impact in the U.K. and worldwide. Having supported this event for years, it is a tremendous honor for ADAO to take part in Mesothelioma Action Day’s focused on  “Prevention, Research, and Advice.”

2015 UK MADThe day’s celebrations will open with a dove release to symbolize the freeing of spirits for those lost to mesothelioma and inspire others to continue the fight against asbestos. We are honored to speak alongside such esteemed speakers as Phillip Lewis, the chair of the London Hazards Asbestos Group; Tony Lennon, President of the Southern & Eastern Region of the Trades Union Congress; Gail Cartmail, the Assistant General Secretary of UNITE; Rachel Thomas of Guy’s Hospital, Mesothelioma Group; Harminder Bains, Joint Head of the asbestos and mesothelioma team for Leigh Day; Julie Winn, Head of the Asbestos Unit at Pattinson & Brewer; Dave Fisher of Thompson’s Solicitors; and Pete Farrell, the Chair of the London Hazard Trust Board, and a special guests Mavis and Ray Nye.

While we are in London for Mesothelioma Action Day, ADAO will also take the opportunity to strengthen strategic partnerships with U.K.-based colleagues dedicated to preventing asbestos exposure and advancing research efforts for a cure. We look forward to collaborating with old friends and meeting new ones this year while honoring Mesothelioma Action Day!

While the day of action circles the UK and around the world, you an lend your signatory support to The Asbestos Victims Support Groups Forum”s Charter for Justice that  sets out a small number of easily affordable reforms that would make a real difference to asbestos victims.”

Together, change is possible.  It is a wonderful surprise – Mavis and Ray are joining me in London!
