There’s only one way I can appropriately begin this blog:

Thank you!!!

As I look over this graphic that illustrates our accomplishments over the past 12 years, what I’m most proud of is the number at the bottom: 50,000. Our ADAO family is 50,000 strong, and you all are the foundation of our work.

It is your dollars, your time, and your dedication that have allowed ADAO to advocate for asbestos victims in Washington, DC. And this year, thanks to your generous support, our legislative advocacy has been stronger and more active than ever! A chemical safety bill ADAO worked on for more than six years was finally signed into law this summer, empowering the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to finally ban asbestos. Even more incredibly, ahead of signing the bill, President Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to officially acknowledge asbestos as a deadly carcinogen.

This was a monumental announcement for our cause, and one that was heard by the global health and safety community. Without a doubt, your stories played a role in this historic moment, considering that just days earlier,  U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer specifically thanked ADAO for our powerful advocacy.

This proves that our collective voice, and the stories we share, are our strongest tool for creating change. Our message could not have reached the Senate floor and the Oval Office without each and every one of you who shared your story. Thank you for your brave words and commitment to making the world better for future generations. If you haven’t shared yet, it’s never too late…

Our successes are also a testament to the power of social media, as that’s where the ADAO community lives. Every time you like, share, retweet, and comment, you’re giving a boost to our organization, and ultimately asbestos awareness. Great work, social media sharers, and thank you!

And of course, none of ADAO’s work would be possible without our phenomenal donors and sponsors. Not only does ADAO sincerely value your generosity—we use your donations to the fullest:

90% of all donations go toward funding educational programming!

ADAO is the organization in the U.S. dedicated to advocating for asbestos victims and eliminating asbestos-caused diseases, and guess what—you are ADAO, and you are CHANGING THE WORLD!

Admire our 2016 impact graphic and be proud. You did this.
