An ally of ADAO, #ColombiaSinAsbesto, puts mesothelioma under the spotlight with the new documentary “Inextinguible” (“inextinguishable”)

ADAO is pleased to partner with Daniel Pineda González, leader of the #ColombiaSinAsbesto movement and the IZE Foundation, producer of “Inextinguishable” (under the direction of Felipe Rico Atara). This documentary will be released in March 2018 and its tour includes screenings in various countries around the world including Colombia, Switzerland, Spain, Argentina, the United States, and more.

Daniel and his late wife Ana Cecilia Niño have been part of the ADAO family for years. Ana died of mesothelioma when she was 41 years old. As a child, Ana lived near a factory called “Eternit-Colombia” that used asbestos in the manufacture of tiles and other elements. They lived in Bogotá, Colombia, where Ana worked as a journalist exposing the problem of asbestos in the country. She and Daniel dedicated their lives to fighting for a Colombia and a world without asbestos / amiantos.

“Inextinguishable” follows the lives of Ana and Daniel during the first days of their diagnosis, including the participation of different experts in the medical, legal, academic and social areas. Their history, so similar to that of many of us, will shed light on the complexity of the asbestos problem and the myriad of huge economic and political interests which are at stake. At the same time, the documentary also describes the human capacity to transform pain into love, indignation into action and the importance of citizen unity when it comes to generating changes that benefit us all.

Ana and Daniel have been and continue to be an inspiration to all of us who fight to ban asbestos worldwide. Since Ana’s death last year, Daniel has continued the fight, working hard from the Ana Cecilia Niño foundation and also has become one of ADAO’s strongest global allies. We are proud to be involved in this important film and we hope to see the impact it has all over the world.

Together, we are making change happen!
