Upon a cancer diagnosis, every patient wants to know about the latest promising clinical trials that are available. I know – I remember like it was yesterday when my husband, Alan, was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Since 2003, understanding and navigating clinical trials has become monumentally easier.
Here are the five things I learned about clinical trials.
- Talk with your oncologist — find out what’s right for you
- Understand what’s the clinical trial entails
- Ask about the risks and benefits
- Do your research about various trials that are available
- Seek treatment at a Comprehensive Cancer Center
For more information, I strongly recommend the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
