Upon a cancer diagnosis, every patient wants to know about the latest promising clinical trials that are available. I know – I remember like it was yesterday when my husband, Alan, was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Since 2003, understanding and navigating clinical trials has become monumentally easier.

Here are the five things I learned about clinical trials.

  1. Talk with your oncologist — find out what’s right for you
  2. Understand what’s the clinical trial entails
  3. Ask about the risks and benefits
  4. Do your research about various trials that are available
  5. Seek treatment at a Comprehensive Cancer Center

For more information, I strongly recommend the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
