Established in 2008 by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the Deadliest Cancers Coalition is comprised of independent patient advocacy organizations and professional societies. For nearly a decade, ADAO has been a supportive coalition member.
As the Deadliest Cancers Coalition reported, “while there are various types of cancers that fall under the “recalcitrant” definition, nearly half of the 600,920 cancer deaths expected in 2017 will be caused by seven of the deadliest site specific cancers: pancreas, lung, liver, esophagus, stomach, brain and ovary.”
Many of the cancers represented in the coalition are among those diseases caused by asbestos exposure, such as lung, ovarian, esophageal, stomach, and GI cancers.
Each member of the coalition, as well as the group as a whole, is a phenomenal example of how people can make change happen and prove… together, we are making change happen!
