On November 9, 2024, the roar of engines wasn’t the only powerful sound at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship in Phoenix, AZ — it was also the voice of advocacy, raising awareness for asbestos-related diseases. Thanks to the remarkable collaboration between the Environmental Information Association (EIA) and the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), the championship race became a platform for education, prevention, and hope.

This unique partnership, forged at the EIA 2024 National Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, brought together the efforts of EIA members, sponsors, and ADAO’s mission to protect public health. Through a generous auction donation from SciAps and the collective bidding of four dedicated EIA members—Brent Kynoch, Kevin Hutton, Craig Zinserling, and Marc Rutstein—the sponsorship of Car #28 was secured for ADAO.

About 40,000 fans attended the event, witnessing the thrilling action at Phoenix Raceway and learning about ADAO’s critical mission. Ryan Sieg’s #28 car carried ADAO’s logo proudly across every lap, reaching a diverse and enthusiastic audience. This incredible exposure provided an invaluable opportunity to spotlight the dangers of asbestos, the importance of prevention, and the urgent need for legislative action.

Words from the Track

“Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Phoenix Championship with SciAps and ADAO on the car was an awesome experience. It was a tough race, but we gave it everything we had and brought it home in 23rd. What ADAO is doing to raise awareness and make an impact is really inspiring, and I’m proud to help shine a light on their mission,” said Ryan Sieg, driver of Car #28.

Ryan has been racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 10 years, building a reputation of determination and consistency. The Phoenix Championship marked the end of the 2024 season, but fans won’t have to wait long for the excitement to return. The 2025 season kicks off on February 15th at Daytona International Speedway, and SciAps will once again sponsor Ryan Sieg next year.

The Heart of the Partnership

The NASCAR event wasn’t just about visibility—it was about collaboration. “Who would ever have guessed that one donation would actually benefit two different organizations?” asked Brent Kynoch, managing director of EIA. “While EIA’s Foundation received a generous contribution, the contributors realized that the gift could be multiplied by donating the visibility on the #28 car to the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization.” These moments remind us that advocacy is about people—the lives impacted, the families grieving, and the collective effort to ensure that no one else suffers needlessly.

Racing Toward Prevention

As the checkered flag waved at the end of the race, it symbolized not just the conclusion of a thrilling championship but also a milestone in advocacy. Each lap Ryan Sieg completed brought us closer to a shared goal: preventing asbestos exposure and ensuring no family has to endure the devastating loss caused by asbestos-related diseases.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship wasn’t just a race—it was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. With every cheer for Car #28, every social media post, and every conversation sparked by this event, we moved one step closer to protecting lives and advancing environmental health.

ADAO extends its deepest gratitude to the EIA, SciAps, Ryan Sieg, and all the individuals who made this moment possible. Together, we’ve proven that even in the fast-paced world of NASCAR, there’s always time to advocate for change.

Thank you for supporting ADAO and helping us cross another finish line in our mission to end asbestos-related suffering. Let’s keep the momentum going—because prevention is the cure.
