During this conversation, Jordan will reflect on his father’s legacy, his own career, and the enduring power of music to inspire change. Warren Zevon’s unforgettable songs, such as “Keep Me in Your Heart,” “Lawyers, Guns and Money,” and “Werewolves of London,” continue to resonate with honesty, wit, and emotional depth.
Behind the genius, however, was heartbreak. In 2002, Warren was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, a preventable cancer caused by asbestos exposure. He passed away at age 56, just weeks after releasing his final Grammy-winning album, The Wind.
Jordan will share how his father’s courage shaped his own path:
“When my dad died, I didn’t know where to channel my grief. ADAO gave me purpose; a way to turn pain into action and help prevent other families from going through what we did.”
Two upcoming tributes will celebrate Warren’s life and lasting influence:
- On October 24, the Wild Honey Foundation and the Zevon family will present Join Me in L.A.: The Songs of Warren Zevon at the United Theater, featuring Jackson Browne, Shooter Jennings, Susan Cowsill, Jorge Calderón, and more. Proceeds will benefit ADAO and the Ed Asner Family Center.
- On November 8, Warren will be posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame under the “Musical Influence” category: A long-overdue honor placing him alongside legends like Hank Williams and Billie Holiday.
For nearly 20 years, Jordan has stood with ADAO, using his voice to raise awareness about asbestos dangers and the urgent need for a full ban.
Let’s keep Warren’s words close: “Keep me in your heart for a while.”
Through Jordan’s advocacy and our collective action, his heart will continue to beat on.
