DAY FOUR – April 4, 2026 | Demand Justice: Prevention Through Law & Policy

On Day Four of Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW), we highlight the essential connection between prevention and justice. Policy, science, and personal stories must work together to end asbestos-related diseases, and we bring all three together.

Today, we remember Mike Mattmuller, whose story, Staying Positive,” continues to embody the resilience and hope that sustains our community. Mike’s courage in the face of mesothelioma remains a powerful reminder of why this work matters and why every voice counts in the fight for change.

We are also grateful to Dr. Raja Flores, Chair of Thoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai and a member of the ADAO Science Advisory Board, whose words capture the urgency of prevention:

“Members of Congress can do more with a pen to prevent asbestos-caused diseases than I can with a scalpel.”

His message is clear: Congress has the power to prevent asbestos exposure and save lives.

Over the past two decades, ADAO has built a strong and compassionate network, connecting survivors with scientists, policy with prevention, and pain with purpose. Through prevention-focused law and policy, ADAO continues to advance efforts that protect public health and support the search for a cure.

Today, we highlight five key focus areas:

We also feature our 2026 Press Release and the 30-second PSA, Асбест: убийца, которого вы не видите,” translated into Russian. These resources help reach new audiences and reinforce a critical truth: this crisis is far from over.

DAY FOUR ACTION: Sign the  Ban Asbestos in the U.S. Now—Without Loopholes or Exemptionspetition.

To prevent exposure. To pursue justice. To protect generations to come.
