Get informed and come to the 8th Annual Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization’s Asbestos Awareness Conference, “Asbestos: An International Public Health Crisis”
In the wake of the guilty verdict from the Processo Eternit trial, in which Stephan Schmidheiny and Baron Jean-Louis de Cartier de Marchienne were found to be responsible for the deaths and illnesses of thousands of Italians, it is time to think of how this historic verdict affects those in North America. The U.S. Geological Survey data from 2000-2010 reports that the United States consumed over 52,500 metric tons of asbestos for use in various products. In Canada, The CBC reports that there are millions of Canadians who work in public buildings that are filled with asbestos. There comes a time when we must say to ourselves, “enough is enough,” and put a stop to the use and importation of eventual death. Safe substitutes exist, and are the key to preventing tens of thousands of early deaths.
Together, we CAN make a difference through collective activism. Take the time to review the facts and dangerous of asbestos. Take time to get informed.
