Asbestos victims unite in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada: Speeches, Photos & Videos, Press Releases, Blogs, and News

Sarnia Event Details

As September draws to a close, we at ADAO look forward to what promises to be a touching few days in Sarnia, Canada from September 30 – October 1, 2011. ADAO has been lucky to collaborate with friends, supporters, and respected authorities on the ground in Canada to help plan these events, and we look forward to the opportunity for all to share stories, connect, and support one another.

On Friday, September 30 at 6:30 pm, the residents and officials of Sarnia and the entire worldwide community will join together at Centennial Park in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada for the “Candlelight Vigil for Victims of Asbestos,” where we honor and remember those in Sarnia and around the world who have lost their lives to asbestos-related diseases.  We encourage you to join us in person in Sarnia; however, if you cannot physically attend, you can still participate!  In honor of those fighting asbestos-related diseases or in memory of those who have lost the battle, you can light your own candle at home or participate through a virtual candle lighting.

Thanks to the hard work of Leah Nielsen, Stacy Cattran, and Vidal Street Industrial Park (VIP)’s generous sponsorship, October 1 at 10:00 am will mark Sarnia’s first “Walk to Remember Victims of Asbestos” at Centennial Park in Sarnia.  Along with representatives from the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW), and The Victims of Chemical Valley, these brave women and the entire community will walk in active protest of the continuing mining, manufacturing, transporting, distribution, and resale of any and all asbestos products in Canada and around the world.

Join us in Centennial Park in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada as the worldwide community of those affected by asbestos and asbestos-related disease come together to help, heal, and take action.  ADAO is also providing digital video cameras at both events so those present can share moments with others around the world.  And, whether or not you can attend, you can always help by sharing this information with friends and family on Facebook, Twitter, and through word of mouth!

Special thanks to Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, Stacy Cattran, Leah Nielsen, Victims of Chemical Valley Memorial, Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers (OHCOW), and the many more supporters of this cause!
