Thanks to an outpouring of dedication, the 16th Annual Alton Miles for Meso race emerged as an overwhelming success. Sponsors, individuals, and teams raised over $27,500 for the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), contributing significantly to asbestos awareness, education, and community initiatives. This remarkable achievement was made possible with the unyielding support of nearly 1,000 racers and over 200 volunteers, including various dedicated sponsors. Additionally, the global community actively participated virtually, contributing to the extensive impact of this event. 

This year’s incredible turnout is a testament to the unyielding spirit and commitment toward this significant cause. While research relentlessly continues, the only proven cure for mesothelioma is prevention. The shared goal is to enhance awareness, prevent asbestos exposure, and eradicate all asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma. 

The Alton Miles for Meso race has consistently been crucial in amplifying these efforts, propelling the movement toward an asbestos-free community.

The Simmons Hanly Conroy Miles for Meso event transcends the definition of a race—it unifies communities in the United States and globally. Participants received race goodie bags with a convenient call to action, encouraging them to send personal letters to Congress with ease. It also reminds all Mesothelioma Warriors that they are not alone, but in fact, there are hundreds of people running alongside them. 

During the race, ADAO shared our new Shared Stories: How Asbestos Changed Our Lives Forever book, featuring over 200 powerful stories from our brave Warriors. 

Since the inception of the Mesothelioma Warrior Tribute Bib program by ADAO, the names have surged by 300%, marking an inspiring growth in support and awareness. A heartfelt thank you to the Simmons Hanly Conroy firm and all who made the 2024 Miles for Meso race an enormous success. This event is a powerful reminder that ADAO is more than just a community; we stand for a broader movement dedicated to truth and justice.

Mesothelioma Awareness Day transcends a mere date on the calendar, epitomizing ADAO’s unwavering commitment to eliminate asbestos exposure and obliterate mesothelioma alongside all other fatal asbestos-induced diseases. Join us in anticipation of the next Miles for Meso race on September 20, 2025.
