Together, We Drove Global Change: Thank You for Making #2025GAAW a Force for Asbestos Prevention, Policy, and Action

Awareness Continues Throughout April!

In response to overwhelming engagement, ADAO will extend Global Asbestos Awareness Week throughout the entire month of April. For details, check out our new blog, Amplifying the Message: A Month of Action Beyond Global Asbestos Awareness Week.

Thank You to Our Global Partners, Supporters and Sponsors

We are incredibly thankful to our organizing “Partners for Prevention,” the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), and the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS), for their leadership and commitment. We also appreciate the 25 other supporting “Partners for Prevention” who helped amplify our prevention message across borders and languages.

This year, we translated GAAW materials into Arabic which brings our video playlist to 9 languages, expanding on last year’s work to include Arabic, French, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian in our YouTube Playlist.

We invite you to continue sharing our Asbestos Awareness Public Service Announcements, which have already reached tens of thousands through social media and global networks.

Addressing Legacy Asbestos and Fire Risks

This year’s campaign also focused on the growing concern of legacy asbestos exposure during urban wildfires and structure fires, particularly in cities like Los Angeles. With over 1.5 million fires reported in the U.S. in 2024 and CAL FIRE tracking more than 6,800 wildfires, ADAO released new materials addressing these risks, including fire-response safety guidance and prevention graphics.

Grateful for Our Sponsors

We extend heartfelt thanks to our generous 2025 sponsors:

Your steadfast support makes it possible to expand our reach and deepen our impact year after year.

Together, We Move From Awareness to Action

The global response to #2025GAAW has been extraordinary. Thousands engaged online, shared their stories, and took steps to promote safer homes, schools, workplaces, and policies.

As we continue our awareness and advocacy efforts through the rest of April, ADAO remains grounded in our founding principle: Hear Asbestos. Think Prevention.

With deep appreciation and continued resolve,

Linda
