September 13 BLOG: ADAO will Testify Before U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy regarding the Toxic Substances Control Act
Posted on September 15, 2013
NEWS: This is the fourth time ADAO has been asked to serve as a Congressional witness and you can participate again! As a Congressional witness, I will be at the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy hearing entitled, “Regulation of Existing Chemicals and the Role of Pre-Emption under Sections 6 and 18 of the Toxic Substances Control Act.” This public hearing will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM EDT in Room 2123 Rayburn.
GRATITUDE: Thanks to our donors and sponsors, ADAO is able to testify in Congress, host Congressional Staff Briefings, and continue to advance education, advocacy, and community support efforts. Congress doesn’t pay for any of these expenses.
ACTION: How can YOU help? Call your Congressional Representative and urge him or her to attend the hearing! Follow these easy steps:
- Click HERE to find the phone numbers of your Representative in the Energy and Commerce Committee.
- Call using the telephone script below:
“Hi,
My name is XX and I am a constituent calling from (state).
I’m calling to encourage Representative XX to attend the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on the Environment and Economy hearing on September 18 at 2:00 pm in Room 2123 Rayburn.
It’s very important to me that my state’s representatives attend the hearing to protect my family from asbestos and other toxic chemicals. We can’t manage toxic chemical risk alone without the help of Congress.”
QUESTIONS: Herman Hamilton and Ellen Patton will also be attending the hearing. Arrive early, as seating is very limited and corporations pay to have placeholders stand in line for them. Yes, I am NOT kidding. Please email Herman at Herman@AsbestosDiseaseAwareness.org if you will be attending, as we will have lunch in the Rayburn cafeteria around noon.
Every voice counts, and every action makes a difference.
In unity,
Linda
