On Wednesday, November 11th at 1:00 pm ET ADAO will host our seventh Zoom conversation. This time, we will be featuring the amazing Mesothelioma Warriors, Mavis and Ray Nye.

Mavis was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in 2009, and was exposed to asbestos by washing Ray’s clothes when he would return from work. Ray worked as a Shipwright in the Chatham Dockyard in the United Kingdom. Just like the many others who are exposed to asbestos in a similar way, Mavis and Ray had no idea that by doing the laundry, Mavis could be exposed to asbestos, and the lethal threat it poses on so many lives.

After endless rounds of chemo, and a six month life diagnosis, Mavis decided to enroll in a medical trial for mesothelioma after 4 years of Chemotherapy and Mavis is still with us 10 years later, fighting as hard as ever, and advocating even harder for a ban on asbestos.

Mavis and Ray decided to found the Mavis Nye Foundation in order to raise awareness of mesothelioma and the harms of asbestos, as well as to give hope to other mesothelioma warriors, and a place for patients and families to connect. Mavis and Ray use social media, and their blog – A Diary Of A Mesowarrior Living With Mesothelioma Asbestos – to get their message out, and offer endless amounts of support to others who are battling the same fight.

Both Mavis and Ray have been members of the ADAO community for over 10 years, and we are thrilled to host a conversation with them.

During the call we will discuss Mavis and Ray’s personal story, Mavis’s various treatment paths, how Mavis and Ray have worked so hard on prevention and advocacy, and the latest updates for their foundation.

Make sure to RSVP by Tuesday, November 10th 5:00 pm ET in order to participate in this great event!

We look forward to seeing you there!
