HONOREES AND KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY INTERNATIONAL ASBESTOS AWARENESS AND PREVENTION CONFERENCE

The Annual Conference “Exploring the Intersection of Asbestos Prevention, Policy, and the Law” will be held in Washington, D.C. September 14, 2024

August 1, 2024, Washington, D.C. – The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), an independent nonprofit dedicated to preventing asbestos exposure through education, advocacy, and community initiatives, is proud to announce the honorees and keynote speaker for its 20th Anniversary International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference, “Exploring the Intersection of Asbestos Prevention, Policy, and the Law,” to be held September 14, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

Patrick Morrison, the distinguished Chief of Field Services at the International Association of Fire Fighters, who has spent decades advocating and leading initiatives to support fire fighter well-being, will deliver a keynote speech at the conference.

During the awards ceremony following the academic conference, ADAO will recognize five distinguished organizations and individuals for their exceptional contributions to preventing asbestos exposure and advocating for public health. The honorees include:

  • U.S. Congressman Don BaconRecipient of the Tribute of Hope Award for his steadfast commitment to awareness, prevention, and policy to eliminate asbestos-related diseases.​
  • Less Cancer –– Recipient of the Tribute of Unity Award for its steadfast commitment to education, collaboration, and cancer prevention.
  • Plaintiff Asbestos Litigation Seminar (PALS) Recipient of the Tribute of Inspiration Award for its enduring dedication to education and civil justice.
  • Andy Oberta Recipient of the Dr. Irving Selikoff Award for his tireless dedication to scientific research and prevention efforts aimed at eliminating asbestos-related diseases.
  • The Duran FamilyRecipient of the Alan Reinstein Award for their commitment to prevention and policy to ban asbestos.

“For 20 years, our mission has remained the same: to prevent asbestos exposure and eliminate all asbestos-caused diseases,” said Linda Reinstein, president and co-founder of ADAO. “Each year, we step back to recognize and honor those who have shown extraordinary dedication and courage to our cause. Our success is only possible because of the wide variety of stakeholders, allies, and experts who have united to advance policy, advocacy, and prevention efforts. We are working towards a future free from asbestos-related diseases, and that work is only possible when we work together,” she concluded.
