My presentation encouraged each person to “Share Your Story” so” so Ambler’s story can be shared with the world as the town was formerly known as the “Asbestos Capital of the World.” The presentation also discussed:
- Where asbestos is in the home, workplace and community;
- Importance of documenting asbestos exposure;
- Always sharing asbestos exposure history with every medical practitioner;
- Consulting a medical practitioner who specializes in mesothelioma and asbestos-related diseases
- Importance of notifying a certified professional to assess, test and remove asbestos.
I made a “Call to Action” for citizens to voice their concerns and opposition to local elected officials as well as those in the State Legislatures and in the U.S. Congress. If the citizens of the community are not vocal in their objections to Ambler Crossings, then the project will move forward and the asbestos disturbed.
