February marks Cancer Prevention Month, a time to focus on reducing cancer risks and saving lives. One of the most preventable causes of cancer is asbestos exposure, which can lead to devastating illnesses like mesothelioma and lung cancer. There is no safe level of asbestos exposure, and prevention is the only cure.

This February, we are dedicating our efforts to raising awareness about the dangers of asbestos and empowering people to take meaningful action.

Our Focus Areas for Cancer Prevention Month:

  1. Awareness
    • Highlighting the dangers of asbestos and empowering individuals to identify and address exposure risks. The more you know, the better you can protect yourself and your loved ones.
  2. Education
    • Providing accurate information about asbestos, its health impacts, and practical safety measures to prevent exposure.
  3. Advocacy
    • Supporting policies such as the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (ARBAN) to eliminate asbestos use and importation.
    • Working toward stricter regulations through the EPA to protect communities from asbestos exposure.
  4. Community
    • Amplifying the voices of those impacted by asbestos exposure through shared stories.
    • Fostering collective action to inspire resilience and drive legislative change, including more substantial disaster response plans to protect public health.

We’re proud to partner with International Association of Fire Fighters, GO2 for Lung Cancer, Environmental Information Association, and many others who share our commitment to reducing asbestos-related illnesses and safeguarding lives.

By focusing on prevention, we can significantly reduce suffering and save lives. Together, we can create a healthier future free from asbestos-related diseases.
