Discover the Power of Unity: Assemble with Global Change-Makers at the ADAO’s 18th Annual Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference

Who: The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) proudly invites you to join an esteemed gathering of over 30 world-renowned experts from five countries, including medical professionals, policy-makers, advocates, and survivors for our 18th annual international conference.

What: The 18th Annual International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference is an essential event that delves into the pivotal theme of “Exploring the Intersection of Art, Advocacy, and Academia.” This year’s conference features an extensive program that includes the latest advancements in disease prevention, innovative treatments for asbestos-induced conditions, global preventative measures, policy efforts, and much more.

We are honored to have Kathleen McGrory, Investigative Journalist from ProPublica, give the Andrew Schneider Memorial Lecture. We will also be highlighting the poignant works of award-winning photographer Earl Dotter’s “BADGES: A Memorial Tribute to Asbestos Workers”. Conference participants will receive a signed poster from the collection.

When: This powerful event will take place on September 9, 2023, from 9 AM to 5 PM ET.

Where: We are privileged to hold our conference at the AFL-CIO in Washington, D.C. In the late 1920s, trade unions were the first to fight against the perils of asbestos, championing worker safety. Today, more than 100 years later, these unions continue to advocate to keep workers, their families, and communities safe from the lethal threat of asbestos and other public health threats. The work they have done in the past and present cannot be understated and we are incredibly grateful to host our conference at such an esteemed location.

Why: This conference is more than a gathering — it’s a call to action, a platform for change, and a space to imagine a world free from the burden of asbestos-related diseases. With a unique blend of art, advocacy, and academia, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the global impact of asbestos while discovering the latest advancements in the field. It’s a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, share insights, and be part of an international movement working towards a common cause. The information shared here will make its way into future research, policy, legislation, and community building activities across the globe. This is your chance to have a seat at the table when it comes to preventing asbestos exposure and to eliminating asbestos-caused diseases in the U.S. and beyond.
