Despite a bustling month filled with significant EPA announcements and regulations, we’re excited to reflect on the immense success of the 2024 Global Asbestos Awareness Week during April 1 – 7. This year, we marked a crucial milestone in our ongoing mission to eradicate asbestos-caused diseases, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO). The global support and engagement have been extraordinary, prompting us to extend our awareness initiatives throughout April.

Global Reach and Educational Initiatives

This year’s observance has not only expanded our outreach but also enhanced our accessibility. All materials shared during #2024GAAW are now available in seven languages—French, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. This multilingual approach allows us to lower barriers to accessing life-saving information. We invite you to view our Asbestos Awareness Public Service Announcements (PSAs), reflecting the broad scope of our campaign.

Highlights of this year include enhancing our digital presence, passing the 19th National Asbestos Awareness Week Resolution, and launching multilingual public service announcements. Given the strong demand for more information and the ongoing need for advocacy, we have decided to extend our educational and awareness efforts throughout April. As part of our continued awareness campaign, we recently published a prevention flier with 5 Asbestos Safety Tips. Click here to spread the word about asbestos prevention.

We are deeply grateful to our “Partners for Prevention” — The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and the British Occupational Hygiene Society—and all our global partners who have helped amplify our message. A special thanks to our sponsors, including Simmons Hanly Conroy LLP; Gold Sponsors Gori Law Firm and Motley Rice LLC; and Silver Sponsor Early, Lucarelli, Sweeney & Meisenkothen, for their steadfast support.
