Press Release (French): L’ADAO organise sa 15ème « Semaine annuelle de sensibilisation à l’amiante » du 1er au 7 avril 2019
Each year, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) dedicates April 1-7 to increasing awareness of asbestos and preventing exposure by bringing together experts and victims from around the world to share, learn, and take action. Today, we’re honored to share the powerful story of 2019 GAAW Day Six Ambassador: Sara from France. We’re also highlighting digital education innovations that are advancing asbestos prevention worldwide, such as ADAO’s “kNØw Asbestos” website, and the livestream of our conference.
As I shared last year, ADAO was sought out by the Assistant Attorney General of Washington State to be the recipient of a restitution award stemming from an asbestos lawsuit in Spokane. While we were angered at the negligence that caused the lawsuit, we were thrilled at the opportunity to use those funds to develop our “kNØw Asbestos” website, a one-stop resource guide to learn about the dangers of asbestos. Created in collaboration and consultation with a committee of strong international partners, our user-friendly platform enables easy access to credible asbestos resources as well as prevention tools and tips. It is a state-of-the-art, cutting-edge educational resource to advance our global ban asbestos efforts.
Asbestos-caused diseases are 100% preventable: prevent asbestos exposure, and you prevent disease. This is why accurate and accessible information is so incredibly important. Unfortunately, so much of the good information and resources about asbestos are buried on hard-to-navigate government websites. We hope that our “kNØw Asbestos” site will help to make this information easier to find and easier to share. Please check it out and spread the word with your family and friends!
We are also excited to announce we will once again be live-streaming our conference. By broadcasting this event live to viewers around the world, we are able to spread statistics, facts, and educational materials from leading experts around the world. Remember: when it comes to asbestos, learning truly does save lives.
Together, we make change happen.
