We have been touched by asbestos in individual ways, yet we are joined together by a bond of community. As a testament to the strength of our global family, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) is highlighting the courageous stories of our members with the “Share Your Story” feature on our website.

This week, we would like to honor the story of Lenny, who is a part of our ADAO family.

We encourage you to submit your personal stories by clicking here and following the simple instructions on the page. In sharing, comes healing. Remember, you are not alone.

“I’m Fortunate To Still Be Alive” – Lenny’s Story

Name: Lenny

Location: Oregon

Year of Birth: 1948

Date of Diagnosis: May 2007

Diagnosis: Mesothelioma

How has asbestos changed your life?

I was never a big strong guy, but now I’m very weak, spending too much time in bed, having trouble walking, can’t run or ride a bike anymore. Can’t do pushups. On the positive side, I’m fortunate to still be alive. I got to travel to see doctors in New York, Baltimore, Washington DC and San Diego, and turned each one into a fun vacation with my family. Best of all, I’ve drawn closer to my G-d and He to me. My full story is located at: jewishsinner.blogspot.com
