Join ADAO for a Virtual Day of Asbestos Awareness and #BanAsbestos Action on Thursday, March 23, 2023

On Thursday, March 23rd join the ADAO community on all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and LinkedIn for a Virtual Day of Action.

Too many citizens think asbestos is a thing of the past. They mistakenly believe it has been banned in the United States. We know that isn’t true and that thousands of Americans die every year because of asbestos-caused disease. That’s why we need you to participate in our Virtual Day of Action to begin sending our voices and demands for action to Congress.

How You Can Help:

The centerpiece of the Virtual Day of Action is a letter-writing campaign to Congress. We are asking people to take 60 seconds (literally) and submit a letter to their elected officials using a new online platform for advocacy. We need your help, and you can submit your letter instantly by clicking the link below.

Share your story about how asbestos has impacted your life in your own words. In turn, we will spread the important stories and messages we hear along with the latest news on asbestos regulation and legislation throughout the day. Our asbestos warriors, ADAO leadership, medical experts, and global leaders in public health and asbestos advocacy will all come together to spread awareness about the dangers of asbestos exposure and best practices for prevention.

Use the tag #BanAsbestos on your posts to connect with ADAO and others participating in the Virtual Day of Action.

Use this day to:

We encourage you to participate on Thursday, March 23rd and beyond! This day is the launchpad for raising awareness, and supporting legislation that will ban asbestos.

Tragically, asbestos imports and use continue every day, even as over 40,000 Americans die each year from preventable illnesses caused by asbestos exposure. ARBAN is the most comprehensive ban-asbestos bill placed before Congress in 30 years, and has long held bipartisan support.

ADAO has worked diligently with government agencies and private stakeholders to end the importation and use of asbestos, but the Congressional ban on asbestos that will result from passing ARBAN is the only way to fully protect public health from this toxic substance. We need to make sure our elected officials know we are watching and urging them to take action.

We look forward to having you join the online conversation on Thursday, March 23rd! This is a huge launch that goes beyond a single day of action, as we move forward together to end asbestos imports and use. We look forward to having you join us on Thursday, March 23rd and every day after to prioritize the health and safety of our communities, and protect our loved ones from deadly exposure to asbestos. Together is the only way we make change happen.
