On August 18, 2026, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) community came together for a special Zoom conversation, Julie G.’s Remarkable Mesothelioma Warrior Journey: Courage, Hope, Healing, and Lessons Learned,” to honor an extraordinary milestone—Julie’s 20th anniversary as a Mesothelioma Warrior.

Julie’s journey is a powerful reminder that behind every diagnosis is a person with a future worth fighting for—and that no one should ever have to face an asbestos-related disease alone. You can learn more from Julie at our 21st Annual Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference on September 25 – 26 in Washington, DC.

Thank You for Celebrating With Us

During the event, Julie generously opened up about her experiences—from diagnosis and treatment to recovery, survivorship, and advocacy. She shared the challenges she faced, the decisions that shaped her path, and the lessons she has carried with her throughout 20 years of living beyond mesothelioma.

Her story offered more than a look back at two decades of survivorship. It offered a powerful message of hope for patients and families navigating the uncertainty of a mesothelioma diagnosis today.

Julie reminded us of the importance of finding knowledgeable medical professionals, making informed treatment decisions, surrounding ourselves with a supportive community, and never losing sight of the life beyond a diagnosis.

Thank You, Julie

Julie, thank you for sharing your story with such generosity and honesty. Thank you for your advocacy, your perseverance, and your continued commitment to raising your voice for patients, families, survivors, and communities affected by asbestos-related diseases.

Your 20-year milestone is more than a celebration of survivorship. It is a celebration of the strength found in community, the importance of advocacy, and the hope that carries us forward.

Thank you for reminding us that there is hope, there is community, and there can be life beyond a mesothelioma diagnosis.
