For the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), mesothelioma awareness occurs every day of the year, but during the month of September, we unite with other organizations in support of Mesothelioma Warriors we know, love, and remember. Since prevention is the only cure for asbestos disease, awareness can literally save lives. This year, ADAO is honored to say that the momentum towards a federal ban on asbestos imports and use has never been stronger; so let’s seize this opportunity to celebrate September as Mesothelioma Awareness Month!

ADAO has a variety of ways for you to get involved throughout the month — most of which you can participate in right from your computer screen:

      1. Ban Asbestos Message to Congress || 6- Word Quotes

Turn your anger into action! Submit your six-word quote, along with a photo, about how asbestos or mesothelioma has impacted your life to be featured in ADAO’s latest advocacy campaign. Submission deadline: September 1 at 9 PM (PT).

      2. Memorial Dedication Video

We’re working on 2019 Mesothelioma Warrior Memorial Dedication Video to honor and remember the loved ones we have lost. If you are interested in your Mesothelioma Warrior being included in the 2019 memorial video, all you have to do is complete this simple form by signing into your Google account and attach their photo. The deadline for 2019 video submissions is September 1, 2019 at 9 pm (PST).

      3. Sign and Share the Ban Asbestos Petition

We’ve collected nearly 140,000 signatures already, but our goal is 150,000. Join us by and sharing the petition today.

      4. Candle Lighting for Mesothelioma Awareness Day September 26

Join patients, families, and friends from around the world on September 26 for the 2019 Mesothelioma Awareness Day Candle Lighting Tradition. We will light candles to remember the Mesothelioma Warriors we have lost and to honor the Warriors who continue to bravely battle this awful disease.

      5. Miles for Meso Charity 5K and Virtual Race

Mesothelioma Warriors and ADAO supporters near and far are invited to join the 11th Annual Miles for Meso 5K Race and 3K Walk/Fun-Run, which has raised over $150,000 for ADAO’s asbestos awareness and education efforts for the past 11 years. The race takes place in Alton, Illinois on September 28. If you can’t make it to the event in person, fear not! Join ADAO’s Virtual Team and participate from the comfort of your computer screen.

We are on the front lines of asbestos awareness and prevention — and together, we will make change happen.
