“For all meso warriors, caregivers and families: live with hope and light.”

— Esther, United Kingdom

This year the candle lighting holds special remembrance for mesothelioma warrior, Jill Vaughn, whose original candle lighting tradition still brings us hope and light year after year. Jill tragically lost her courageous battle with mesothelioma this year and we will be lighting a candle on December 28th to honor her strength, courage, and continuing compassion. Special thanks also to Julie Burns, a long-time dedicated ADAO candle lighting volunteer, who will be sending email confirmations to those who submit a name.

Many of the Warriors for whom we light candles are featured in our Share Your Story collection. If you have not shared yours or your loved one’s story, please look over our collection and consider Sharing Your Story today. These stories are the glue that binds our ADAO family together.  They raise awareness, offer support for victims around the world, provide a cathartic outlet, and remind others that they are not alone.

We cannot ignore our pain and grief, but we can find comfort in our memories and love, and supportive community.

In unity,

Linda

Candle Light Reading

In loving memory of Mesothelioma Warriors – December 28th

On December 28th, we will light four candles, in loving memory of Mesothelioma Warriors who have lost their courageous battle.

“As we light these four candles in honor of you, we light one for our grief, one for our courage, one for our memories, and one for our love.”

LIGHT THE FIRST CANDLE:  ‘The light of this first candle represents our grief. The pain of losing you is intense. It reminds us of the depth of our love for you.”

LIGHT THE SECOND CANDLE: “The light of this second candle represents the courage it takes to confront our sorrow, to comfort each other, to change our lives.”

LIGHT THE THIRD CANDLE: “This third candle is a light to all of our memories of you. To the times we laughed, the times we cried, the times we were angry with each other, the silly things you did, the caring and the joy you gave us.”

LIGHT THE FOURTH CANDLE: “This fourth candle is the light of our love. As we go forward, day by day we cherish the special place in our hearts that will always be reserved for you. We thank you for the gift your life brought to each of us. We love you always.”
