Washington, DC––Linda Reinstein, president of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, the largest asbestos-victim advocacy organization, released the following statement today in response the Food and Drug Administration discovering asbestos in Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder.

“Today’s disturbing news that Johnson & Johnson has recalled asbestos-contaminated baby powder is yet another reason why Congress and the EPA must step up to protect Americans — including our infants and children — from the deadly threat of asbestos.

Asbestos-contaminated products have repeatedly made it onto store shelves and into our homes. This Congress has the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (S. 717) (H.R. 1603) before them and should pass it without delay to better protect public health from this carcinogenic toxic substance once and for all.”
